Circumventing lead time

Recognising that the lead times required for application installation were outside many clients’ requirements, Insight Marketing Strategy, the owners and developers of research reporter, now provide the option of renting the application.

research reporter is a marketing research management system designed specifically for research buyers. The application combines knowledge management, document management and project management all rolled into one.

Before moving to the application service provider (ASP) model, research reporter had to be purchased via a license and installed on a company intranet. When it is rented, it is instead hosted on an Insight Marketing Strategy server and accessed over the internet.

Daryl Maloney McCall, a director of Insight says that the majority of new clients are now opting to host with Insight.

‘Firstly, the turnaround time on getting access to their application is greatly reduced from months to days and, secondly, upgrade and maintenance services that come with renting are superior.

‘For some clients it makes financial sense as well,’ he added.

Daryl argues that security of information is always an issue, regardless of where the application resides, but claims that both the physical and digital security systems employed by research reporter are ‘probably superior to what most organisations can provide internally’.
