30th Annual National Conference social program

The social program is in place for the 2001 National Annual Conference. The program includes a number of different venues for lunch and dinner to provide delegates with a range of experiences that are truly Queensland.

The opening dinner will be held at Dreamworld (see below).

Tuesday’s activities include the traditional favourites of golf, tennis and, new this year, rock climbing on the cliffs of Kangaroo Point and surrounds. There will be BBQ picnic lunches in the Southbank Parklands.

This year, the Tuesday evening dinner will be reinstated to the conference program. The dinner will be held in the elegant surrounds of the Queensland Art Gallery. Delegates are invited to a private viewing of the gallery’s collection, including any national or international exhibitions on display during the conference.

The closing dinner will be a tribute to our cultural diversity. The dinner will be held in the Piazza at Southbank, and will be a celebration of food, music and dance from a number of countries that make up the tapestry of multicultural Australia.

As the conference venue is in the centre of Brisbane, there are plenty of other activities and sights to see within close proximity. It will be whale-watching season during September, and conference chair Kylie Brosnan urges all interstate and overseas delegates to take the opportunity to view the whales in Moreton Bay during their time in Queensland.

Southbank Parkland is an ideal holiday location, with bike and boat hire, cinemas, theatres, museums, art galleries, restaurants, cafes, shopping, playgrounds and the swimming beach.

Saturdays and Sundays see the parklands come alive with vibrant street markets and craft stalls. Street theatre and free pantomimes are frequently part of the festival atmosphere.

Ever dined with a tiger?

If the experience of sitting within a few feet of a live tiger, sipping a fine wine, dining on a feast of food and conversing with the great minds of market research appeals to you, then book now for the 2001 National Annual Conference.

The conference is an opportunity for delegates to enjoy a Queensland holiday and organizers encourage delegates to bring their family to enjoy what Brisbane has to offer.

The opening dinner of the conference will be held at Dreamworld’s Tiger Island, where these magnificent creatures live and play. The parkland will be opened exclusively for AMSRS delegates.

For the thrill seeking (fool hardy) members, the Tower of Death, The Wave, and Roller Coaster rides will be operating. The less adventurous members can display their ability to manage road rage on the bumper cars.

We are currently seeking a sponsor for the Opening Dinner. For more details about the 2001 National Annual Conference contact Jan Wallace on 02 9955 4830.
